The 2015 movie lineup at the box office is looking very promising. 2014 didn’t seem to have the originality or quality content to drive big ticket sales. Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1 was the highest grossing film domestically selling $334.3 million in tickets, the lowest total ticket sales for the highest grossing film since 2001. Hopefully this year will pick up the pace and produce some positive results at the box office. Here is a list of a few movies coming out this year that could make an impact and make 2015 a huge success. Movies are not listed in any particular order.
“A continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983).”
I don’t think I need to say much more. This movie has everything needed to knock it out of the park.
“When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and it is up to the Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans.”
Marvel = Fun.
“Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park (1993), Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.”
The first time I heard they would be adding to the Jurassic series, I may have rolled my eyes. I don’t think the plot will be any different but the visuals and intensity will make an impact.
“Deckard Shaw seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his family for the death of his brother.”
Yes, the 7th installment, but with the tragic death of Paul Walker, a lot of people want to see how they completed the movie without him.
“Beatrice Prior must confront her inner demons and continue her fight against a powerful alliance which threatens to tear her society apart with the help from others on her side.”
A continuation from Divergent. Expect the second installment to outperform the first.
“Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.”
Similar to Penguins of Madagascar released in 2014, Minions will be a huge success. Leave Despicable Me DVD’s on the start menu and you’ll see why. If you have kids, you know what I’m talking about.
“A live-action retelling of the classic fairy tale about a servant step-daughter who wins the heart of a prince.”
Following Maleficent (2014), Disney is creating a live-action version of this widely known fairytale. It looks extremely well done and magical. It will be interesting to see what twist they put on it. This just might have the power to relieve us all from the Frozen effect. Let us hope!
“The Gladers have escaped the Maze, but now they face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a world ravaged by solar flares and disease.”
The first movie was much better than anticipated. Look for this movie to at least match its success.

“Four young outsiders teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
At least it’s not another Transformers…
The plot is unknown, but if it follows suit, it will still provide enough punch to drive people to the theaters.
